This article comes in response to a statement by the Portuguese Prime Minister talking about the need to address strategies at a landscape scale, to alleviate the problems that arose from the fires this summer. Our answer is that, in general, there is a lack of coordination between public and private actions, to address multiple challenges of changes in agricultural landscapes, among others, those related to the recent expansion and intensification of the olive grove.
